My African Garden.

Inspired by Anselm Kiefer’s words on connection and memory, this body of work reflects my studio’s transformation into a ‘magic garden’ of fantasy and wonder. It celebrates life and its fragility through new paintings, monoprints, and etchings. The monoprints emerged after my mother’s passing, referencing her neat English country-style garden with peonies, poppies, and dahlias, contrasted with my own wild, self-seeding indigenous garden. The Iris recalls a colonial, fleeting beauty, while the Cartographer’s Notes reimagine found maps with botanical themes from my travels. Limited-edition etchings, sketch-like in quality, capture plants in nature before reworking in the studio. All prints were created with Bevan de Wet at Eleven Editions. Memory, like a garden, remains my homeland.
